The Royal Residences

Stupinigi Hunting Lodge

This monumental estate was commissioned by King Vittorio Amedeo II as a hunting lodge. It was designed in 1729 by Filippo Juvarra and later became a summer home for the Royal Family. The plan of the palace is four-armed in the shape of St. Andrew's cross, with an elliptical central hall decorated by excellent frescoes.

The finely decorated rooms on the piano nobile host the Museum of Art and Furniture, with a display of fine pieces of furniture and furnishings also from other royal residences, including some masterpieces by Piedmontese cabinet makers.

The Hunting Lodge is currently closed and undergoing renovations.
