This castle was originally an ancient fortress and it was handed to the Savoy-Carignano branch in 1605.
In 1676 Prince Emanuele Filiberto entrusted Guarino Guarini with the enlargement and transformation of the building, that continued in 1756 with Giovanni Battista Borra who designed the main neoclassical facade.
This was Carlo Alberto’s favourite Palace and he entrusted Pelagio Palagi with the renovation of several sumptuous apartments, decorated and furnished with paintings and Chinese -style wallpaper.
The architect was also in charge of rebuilding the neogothic complex of the Margarie located in the beautiful Park, with grottoes, ponds and waterfalls in the romantic fashion.
The castle is open to the public and offers visitors a calendar of events that are held inside the Castle, in the Margarie and in the Park.
